Wish You Were Here

I make a shape out the city lights
and narrow my depth of field
looks like a test for the colour blind
blurring the fake and the real
The only things that we can share
The sunsets, the stars, the rain
So I’ll just sit down here and stare
Scratching marks into the wall each day
With every second that creeps on by
another day dies in me
With every sunrise I’m thinking of you
The memories of wonderful things that you do
I write to remember with paper and pen
I hope and I wish and I pray that I’ll see you again
I try to keep you in the mind
but sometimes the words escape
I shout your name inappropriately
as the world becomes a dark moonscape
