Driven thence
By foul winds
Nine days upon the sea
Driven thence
We reached their land
That take a flower for their feast
They raised no sword
They did not run
Gave lotus flower and bade us eat
Can’t remember hearth or home
Don’t know my name or where I’ve been
No resistance to nonexistence
I take the flower for my feast
That nectar
Cleared our eyes
So rare and so sweet
Made no return
We sent no word
Of our bloodless defeat
Forced and fast, we bitter wept
Only the flower we seek
Heathens boarded to drag us home
Wailed as their oars smote the sea
This bliss fills me
This bliss kills me
Open my eyes
Open my mind’s eye
