I used to turn a phrase then burn the page
The winds caught the embers and carried away
The things I’m not allowed to say

In a broken tape deck that only replays
And as I watched the coastline fade from sight
I laughed at the metaphor of my whole life
The world’s my own depression light
My words became my curse I could never rewrite
