Butterflies

Sing to me, it don’t mean much but it means everything.
You dance I bleed, on ocean liners and the baron sea.
The sun, it beams. Through the branches of the evergreens.
At last I see, but you were gone and I’ll fall back to sleep.
Forgive me when I say, I was already drifting away.
Cos you left me here like an old dog in the rain, would you care.
Would you even line your guts before taking on this much.
With a body full of butterflies you’re fit to burst.
You were fit to burst.
The second time you’d think that you’d grow
numb to the sting or that you wouldn’t remember.
Or that the smell, the taste,
the use of certain words, the walks we’d take in December.
Because I’m over this but under the bridge,
staring up, I just can’t burn it yet. I won’t burn it yet.
The fact I even exist at all,
I find incredible, It’s a miracle, It’s a miracle.
I don’t scare anymore, because everything I fear is already upon me.
