Stacked and Shifted

I would open my mouth but I can’t stand to see you cry.
I know we would never fight if I could see you everyday.
But I know it can’t be that way.
Why do we have to live so far away?
It’s hard to be patient.
I’m going to do everything I have to do
to show you that you’re my priority.
I’ve built a monument piled stacked + shifted full of apologies.
I wonder how we ever survived this far away.
