I’m just a plain ol' country kid and I like to do what’s right
Just like any other boy I like to hold 'em tight
Sometimes they got resistence but no matter how I tried
Then a cute little gal just looks at me with a gleam in her eye

When I was in a country school I always had a girl

But the dim lights just lured upon and they’d snuggle up to me

Well that’s the way my life has been ain’t it a cryin' shame
