Dreaming of Being

He lays down in the water
sinking like a leaf
dying away
drinking in the life
pulling in the light
letting go the day
before the memories fade
fish feed on his hands
and dream…
of being human
longing for air
telling stories of music and dancing
of how the fishermen take their life
take their life and give it back again
singing songs
in the ocean
with the dolphins
to the moonlight
to the starlight
sinking down
and swimming back again
he lays down in the water
