22 years ago I was 15
I had a body full of hormones
and a heart full of dreams
that’s when you came to me and said
let’s make something of our lives
22 days later we had made plans
to go out to see the world
it was the journey of our lives
that’s when life came in between
and that journey would never begin
I wonder what we could have been
childhood friend
we would write songs with silly lyrics, about girls that we thought we loved
we used to drink wine behind the school yard
and smoke cigarettes to make us look cool
we prepare to go to the dances
with all the butterfly’s in our hearts
and we would dream of all of the endings
of the stories we were going to start

that really mattered to us most
it was life and love and death
do you remember how we used to set
22 years late and I don’t know
how to answer all the questions
we would ponder long ago
it’s a mystery it seems
how to find love and keep it you know
it’s happiness from long ago
