First Show Ever

split a big bottle of beer before our show
stood on the roof of the parking garage, looked down below
at all the moms and dads, who, for sure, were not going to our show
no, they just wanna go home
we chugged malt liquor, actually
8.1% to make us feel drunk more quickly, cheaply
we were already late and didn’t have any money
to spend at the bar where we were playing
a family came onto the roof
they wanted to get into their car and drive home, too
we put the bottle on the ledge and walked away quickly and conspicuously
trying to pretend we weren’t scoundrels and failing
$ 1.89 at stewart’s and a few minutes later
we were sort of drunk together on the roof of a parking garage
in the beginning of december
we were about to play our first show ever
at a bar, and were were a little nervous
