Anti Climb Paint

My love comes staggered,
Duck-eared and haggard.
But your love?
It never comes at all.
Your legs are coated in anti-climb paint,
But I try and climb them all the same.
This is the way we do it.
This is the way we’ve always done it.
But why? I don’t know.
You can be soft and gracious.
I guess that’s why I’m so tenacious.
