Whispers

I’ve heard the whispers of my past call out to me
I’ve the future call me from my sleep and
I wonder how this’ll all work out
I’ve seen my friends grow into enemies
I’ve seen grown brought down to their knees
I remember how, how it left us here
I’ve seen my neighbours sleep out on our front stairs
Drunk from the last night, was funny now it’s said
And it’s sad to see how this all turned out
I heard the riots on a warm in June
I heard the sirens but they weren’t covered in blue
They just left us here, seeped in blood in fear
I spent some days here beneath my bed
Scared of the ones who were pitting for my head
