Random Harvest

Here I see waves are washing
On the shore
Stand on the beach at midnight
Hear them roar
Now that the rain is falling
From the sky
Why can I feel it burning
In my eye
Deep in my heart
Deep in me nowhere to turn
After it dies
After it’s too late to learn
All of the years
All of us growing from birth
We have to learn
We have to cherish the Earth
Here I feel the wind is blowing
Through the trees
Stand in the forest dying
From the breeze
Now that the leaves have vanished
For all time
How can I shade the sunlight
From my eyes
