I walked five miles then I took a car
It soon broke down so I didn’t get far
I stole a bike but it was in vain
Both wheels bent so I took a train
The wagon packed, what a nasty smell
Had to leave that livin' hell
Just walk again, that’s what I do
Aching muscles and a hole in my shoe
No home, no friends, a poor man’s lot
Fifteen bucks, that’s all I got
I’m on the road, will it ever end?
Got a sleeping bag and a torn up tent
Rain and snow and sleet and hail
Never stop, I walk the trail
Across the plain, a shimmering light
Sunset glow and storms tonight
