Nail on the Head

In spite of yourself
You see things that I can’t see
Unearthing hidden diamonds from the coal
In spite of yourself
You speak in poetry
A knack of accidentally striking gold
I rattled the walls as I ran through the halls
Screamed every word that I knew
Only to find I’d been wasting my time
All of my noise couldn’t cut to the truth
There it goes, my hammer blow
Missing the wonder caught up in the thunder
Truth is told just under your breath
You hit the nail
You hit the nail on the head
From out of the din
I long for a reckoning
Is somthing waiting, aching to be told?
Dazzled by lights
Drawn to the empty highs
I wasted every sentence that I spoke
I rattled the walls as I ran through the halls
Screamed every word that I knew
