Oh, Please

i wish that i could see things the way you see them
if only so that we could carry on
i know that my mistakes are made far too often
but what makes you think that you’ve done nothing wrong?
i thought that only my worst enemies
had that sort of amputated memory
every time you start to make believe
i feel like screaming in a public library
i thought it through and i came to one conclusion
i’ve carried your opinion for too much time
still, now and then i get such a nagging feeling
i want to be thought of as someone nice, but
it seems that only my worst enemies
get the same reputation i receive
and every time a sleazy look comes over
i wish that i could give myself some kind of closure
