State Of Me

My slight return has come around,
Now I’m looking back and wondering
Why I ever stood my ground.
I’ve tried to explain in simple words,
But my language is so badly dubbed
It’s hard to figure out a reason for
The state of me because of you.
My slow release was over-due,
And please don’t flatter yourself into thinking that the choice was down to you.
Let me make it clear, like it was higher law,
You’re easily forgotten but your not so easily forgiven for
The state of me because of you.
Abused and used,
So give me back my wasted youth.
You owe me words,
You owe me years,
But I know I’ll get nothing back from you.
