I rest my tired head
On the far end of my mattress
And let you sleep inside my bed
Despite the hesitation
I just thought you couldn’t sleep
But you had other things in mind
As I froze in place

In the dead of night
It was a deafening blue
I didn’t wanna think
I didn’t know where else to go
I didn’t wanna make
Some kind of scenes
So I grit my teeth
For what almost could’ve been
A hole in my head
And a fractured brain
And as you made your final move
I made mine
To the couch upstairs
That I got last year
From a couple moving out
Of a place I’d much prefer
But still think about
Every now and then
As you followed up the stairs
To tell me 'It's all right'
I can go back to bed now
Now that you’re gone
