Defeat Me

As moments slowly drift away
And time groans in anger
I sent a letter to today
But recieved no answer
My mind runs frantically through gray fields
Seeking refuge from thought
Yet when the day is done it yields
With desire to be caught
Defeat Me
I watch the darkness creeping in
Bearing absolution
«Forgive the day for all its sins
Enter night’s illusions»
Yet daytime struggles once more to stay
And relief flees the fight
And through the dark it makes its way
To allow a new light
Defeat Me
And when the day is gone
And time has played its final tune
I let my memories defeat me
I let my head recline
My mind will gradually resign
And there I stand
At last defeated
