Need Not Worry

I came of age as I left
As it was lifted from my chest
Come a rushing winter, came a bird
She was soft, frail and full
And spoke of years spent indoors
But she needs not worry anymore
The ear turned soft by her breath
A pocket-knife beat in her chest
