She’s waiting for her favorite program
Every Wednesday evening at eight
Some sappy drama scored with slow jams
For thirty-something women who need a quick escape
He’s giving dollar bills to strippers
Trying to buy them beer on their breaks
‘cause the things they do, it gives him shivers
All the ways their bodies move and the way their bodies shake
She’s watching on the ten o’clock news
How some wineries will mash their grapes
And what they’ll do with wine they can’t use
And how awfully long the aging process takes
A fifty dollar private lap dance
And the girl he pays to set himself straight
In his collared shirt and khaki white pants
He feels like he’s fifteen, sneaking out on his first date
She’s half asleep in their bed upstairs
When he pulls up like three hours late
She’s past the point where she could care now
If he stays in the car crying, drunk and half awake
