I'm Through

There’s a note on my bedside
That was authored in the night
My eyes try to focus
Adjusting to the light
I wonder at it’s meaning
Like a PI with a clue
I had written only two words
«I'm through»
It’s so hard being so close
But still just out of reach
To something in the darkness
That the light won’t let me keep
I guess I must go deeper
Firmly turn the screw
Down into the unknown
Until I’m through
The song floats on a river
Of mystery and fate
It’ll whisper you a secret
To investigate
And you take what you can
While the river moves in you
Then it’s gone before you can say
