A Loving Side

As I sit on the fence,
I never made much sense
But at least I can laugh at this now.
Can’t start fires when my heart is cold;
I start to make my
Perfect excuses--
I have a lot of them.
I’ve used a lot of them on you.
And I can be sure that you have
Heard it all before, so…
Please remind me of all the many things you do
That takes the heart away from all the things I do.
But then I pretend to be your friend again.
I got a loving side--
I got a loving side for you.
I’m just feeling the heat.
I guess I’ll fall on my feet, but
Now I’m falling into this.
I’m being foolish and selfish,
None of which I wanted to be.
Second chances--
I’ve had a lot of them.
You gave a lot of them to me.

Hurt some more, so…
You just don’t know what to say, do you?
