Breakfast in Manhattan.

I don’t check my phone in the morning
I don’t need to know what’s going on
Up in the sky another hurricane is forming
And soon enough we’ll all be gone
So I don’t check my phone in the morning
I know everything its gonna say
Another wildfire out in California
While they write songs about the rain
And everyday it’s repeating
I’m getting too numb to feel it
Am I old before my time

If you think I sound conceited
It just feels so crowded in my mind
I guess I got tired of performing
Tired of singing all the same songs
If looking out at all those faces there before me, wondering
Why they look to me at all
Cause I don’t have the answer that they wanted
I can’t say that it’ll all be fine
That we’ll just all keep walking on and on and on
Until the clouds fall out the sky
I hate it, delete it
But at the same time I need it
It feels so crowded in my mind
I’m tired, depleted
Too young to feel this defeated
I guess I’m old before my time
I’ve still got the cigarettes you bought me
But I can’t bear to smoke them now
You might have been the only one who ever called me
'Cause now there’s no one left around
So I don’t check my phone in the morning
I just try to think of what you’d say
And that breakfast in Manhattan when you told me
