Father Knows What's Best

From the time I was a little child
I’ve always heard of You
And I’ve seen with my own eyes
The wondrous things that You could do
But in spite of all I’ve seen and heard
Still this question came to me
Why must I suffer so
If the Father knows what’s best for me
As my nights and days turned into months
And months turned into years
I could see my trust turn into doubt
And my faith turn to fears
But in spite of all the bitterness
Through the darkness I could see
There was a reason for the test
And the Father knew what was best for me
So with everything with me
I’ll say yes to Thee, oh Lord
Even though my faith gets weak
I’m standing on Your word
So forgive me, Lord, for doubting You
When Your ways I cannot see
Now I rest assured that You know
What is best for me
So let the fainting heart take courage
Let the weak one say I’m strong
God will exchange your gloom for gladness
And your suffering for a song
Do not cast away your confidence
God will always see your through
He knows just what to do
For the Father knows what is best for you
So with everything with me
