The Sex Offenders

There’s a bunch of sex offenders living down the street from me
But I guess if they’ve found forgiveness in the law
Then there’s probably some hope for me
I’ve always known my right from wrong
I just was born with a busted key
And every time I tried to pick that lock, it seemed
The devil was the only friend who would help me
I wished I may, I wished I might
But all my wishing only brought me grief

Only wants the things that are worst for me
But everywhere I go

Burn bright enough for me

'Cause my knees keep locking up
Each time I start praying
Sometimes I think about the sex offenders
And I wonder what they think of me
I wonder if they stare at me and wonder
If I truly am as good as I sure do seem to be
But maybe there’s a certain type of darkness
All the dark ones have the power to see
So maybe they all lock their doors at night
Because they’re living down the street from me
