Well it makes you wonder how we came to this place
Did the Old Gods leave us? Did we just turn away?
Do they walk among us, living smaller lives?
Do they miss the attention? Their memory still survives
We can hear their echoes, we can hear them call
In the words that we speak, in the days of the week
But we turned from glory, we accepted their Christ
Another fairy story — now we’re paying the price
And I can’t get my head round how this should come to be
Cos' I’m sure I would rather be drinking mead with the Valkyrie
Did it make us easy? Did it make us sedate?
When we gave up the old ways for the collection plate
We were mighty warriors, we were proud and free
We were brave adventurers from across the sea
But the years have changed us, we have lost our shine
We have lost our pathway in the mists of time

Now we come from the land of reality shows
From the soaraway sun, where the hot tubs glow
