Different Today

They say the light from a star
can travel for centuries
how come your smile fades
before it ever reaches me
tell me if there’s something you need to say

but things just feel a little different today

i’d say you were looking for a fight
ordinarily, i would not stay
i’d grab my coat and walk away

the kitchen clock, it laughed out loud
