A mother cries as she hugs an old stuffed toy
She sits alone with memories of her little boy
A world ago she understood life’s meaning
Back when her child’s eyes were gleaming
A father fights the urge to have a drink
He gave up hope and now he feels his life is jinxed
He has no way to feed his family
The money’s gone, all lost to gambling
