I remember that second grade summer
Storm season in our home town
Sittin' in the cellar
Tornado was a coming
Didn’t know where it was gonna touch down
Daddy read the bible by the Coleman gas light
How God sent a rainbow to Noah for a sign
The wind stopped blowing
And it got real quiet
Momma turned to me and said
Don’t be afraid when you see dark clouds

Years passed like a quick spring shower
Had to find my way in this world
Huggin' mama goodbye took an hour
A grey sky day for her baby girl
Packin' up my dreams in a little red jeep
Her face was wet when she kissed me on the cheek
I heard the thunder
And I didn’t wanna leave
She squeezed my hand and said
