Door to Another World

My footsteps are falling hard on the road between my house and your
little one bedroom apartment,
in a city where I just cannot understand how the one ways work,
how they twist and bend.
Are they all dead ends? Why won’t anyone tell me?
So I guess it’s good I just plain forgot to get into my car before setting out
to find you.
A door to another world, it opened right beside me.
On a normal day I’d step right through, but this ain’t no normal day.
I don’t have time for that kind of thing right now.
