Only a miracle will prevent my death
A dawn burial inside these walls
Slipping further from grace in desperation
On the devil I have called
Sworn to a life of restraint
I’ve fallen beyond redemption
Prayers won’t save me now
Exhaustion sets in
Held against my will
A slave to this parchment
Chained to this quill
My stomach churns as sweat drips from my brow
My heart is at war with my mind
For breaking my vow
My hands are bound
Look what you’ve done
Losing perspective
Losing ground
You belong to me now
There will be no absolution for these transgressions
My life once paved with the purest intentions
Now as darkness sets in, I contemplate my plight
Crushed by the weight of my decisions
Tormented by the looming light
My hands are no longer under my control
Instead directed by he who owns my soul

Chained to this quill
Born into the light
Saved by the darkness
I long to feel alive again
