God's Not Through With Me Yet

There was an angel working overtime on that night in '93
I was gonna show 'em all that a z-28 could outrun anything
but it was somewhere between 3rd and 4th gear where I lost control
and how I walked away without a scratch the good lord only knows
Now I know it might sound kinda strange but there’s only one reason why
one last draw out of a cigarette could ever save your life.
But I should have been standing where Bobby was when that beam came crashing
down
And why the Lord took him instead of me I still can’t figure out
I guess God’s not through with me yet
cuz He pulled me back from every trap that the devil’s ever set
And I wonder at the plan He’s got for the time that I got left
So all I can say is til He puts me to rest

When I wake up every morning
I try not to be afraid
knowin' every day is closer
to the last breath I’ll ever take
and it’s only through my faith
that I can truly understand
that in the end

it’s always in His hands
